Equity PartnerWarrenville Office

Robert L. Larsen is an equity partner at Cunningham Meyer & Vedrine who focuses his practice on medical and dental malpractice defense, appeals, and insurance and “bad faith” claims.

Bob has successfully defended cases involving dentists, hospital liability, birth trauma, failure to diagnose cancer, surgical errors, radiology, pathology, internal medicine and emergency medicine.

He has developed a special focus on dental negligence cases, cultivating a deep understanding of the language and issues surrounding dissatisfaction with cosmetic outcomes and loss of teeth, to more catastrophic issues such as aspirating dental equipment and delay in oral cancer diagnoses. His defense work has included individual and groups of general dentists, periodontists, endodontists, oral surgeons and prosthodontists.

Bob also has a strong appeals track record, having argued before the Illinois Supreme Court, the full Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and petitioning the United States Supreme Court. Many of his cases have resulted in published opinions. He serves as the primary appellate lawyer within the firm and is regularly sent cases by other law firms who trust his specialized skills in this high-stakes space.

He represents some of the largest insurance carriers in Illinois on their coverage and bad faith issues, often consulting in advance when claims are particularly complex or present a high risk.

He also defends personal injury cases involving elevators and escalators, construction, auto and products liability.

Bob speaks regularly to doctor and dental groups on risk management as well as presenting to ISMIE on best practices for avoiding bad faith litigation.

He is the current Chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee for DuPage County and is a member of the Board of Directors for the DuPage County Board of Health.

Bob began his career with the United State Marine Corps, retiring in 2011 as a Lieutenant Colonel after receiving multiple awards for his service during active duty. He is also the recipient of the American Bar Association Award of Professional Merit.
