Charlie Redden and Tom Lang recently won a not guilty verdict in a wrongful death medical malpractice lawsuit in Cook County.  The patient was a 30-year-old woman treated in the ER by the defendant physician and physician’s assistant.  The patient complained of back and chest wall pain, a history of nausea and vomiting, and blood in her urine the day before.  The patient claimed that the defendants failed to order a CBC, which allegedly would have shown TTP (thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura) an aggressive and life-threatening blood disease.   Three weeks after her ER visit, the patient was diagnosed with TTP and died.  Charlie and Tom successfully argued to the jury that the defendants appropriately treated the patient in the ER, and by the time she followed up with her primary care doctor a few days later her condition was much improved.  The defense experts established that the patient did not have TTP in the ER.  Patient’s attorney asked the jury for $11,000,000.00.
