Jackie Wasko is a partner at Cunningham, Meyer & Vedrine where she focuses her practice on the defense of long term care facilities, hospitals, healthcare organizations and medical providers.

Prior to joining the firm, Jackie spent 20 years working as Staff Counsel at CNA, a prominent institutional insurance firm, where she defended clients in all facets of medical and dental malpractice claims.  She has represented dentists, nurses, mental health professionals and other medical providers both in negligence cases and in licensing board matters.  Since 2005 she has focused her practice primarily on the defense of long term care providers, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other providers on the continuing care continuum.  Jackie has received favorable outcomes for her clients in many trials, arbitrations and mediations and has successfully settled hundreds of cases.


During her years at CNA, Jackie’s superior performance and outcomes on key litigation matters was recognized with recognized with multiple awards.  She handled Major Case Unit files with high risk exposure during her entire tenure at CNA.

Prior to CNA, Jackie worked at AAA Michigan as Staff Counsel for 8 years.  She served on the Catastrophic Claims team, handling high exposure cases involving brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and burn cases.  She was a Practice Group Leader for the Cost Containment team, spearheading AAA Michigan’s challenge to the medical cost of automobile accident claims.

Presentations

Jackie has made numerous risk management presentations to long term care providers, teaching the importance of proper documentation and deposition preparation. While at AAA Michigan, she testified before the Michigan State Senate regarding the Cost Containment Project.
