Judy Kattan is an Associate at Cunningham Meyer & Vedrine. She focuses her practice on civil litigation with an emphasis on professional liability defense work and medical malpractice claims.
Judy earned her J.D. at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. There, she specialized and obtained a certificate in health law in a program that ranks in the top 10% in the country for health law. Judy made the Dean’s List in each year of her legal education. She was also a recipient of the Philip H. Corboy Endowment, as well as the Law School Merit Scholarships.
Alongside her rigorous curriculum, Judy maintained heavy participation in extracurricular programs. She served as the president of the Muslim Law Student Association, the treasurer of Women in Law Society, and the publicity director of the Mock Trial Executive Board.
Judy also earned a position on the nationally acclaimed Corboy Fellows Mock Trial Team. In the team’s 27 years of competition, the Corboy Fellows have won six national championships, five regional championships, and seven individual member awards. Judy worked alongside judges and attorneys to sharpen her advocacy skills. She competed in national mock trial competitions cultivating tangible advocacy skills by forming cases in chief for both the plaintiff and defense parties in criminal and civil cases. She’s handled evidentiary issues, drafted motions, and argued in court. During her time as a Corboy fellow, Judy’s love for advocacy was quickly cemented.
Judy’s work catapulted her into the intimate group of Corboy fellows with individual recognition. In competition, she placed second nationally at the In-Vino Veritas National Mock Trial Competition and earned an individual award for “Best Overall Direct Examination” on an examination of an expert witness.
While in law school, Judy joined the CMV family and narrowed her focus in the field of health law by gaining exposure to all aspects of defense medical malpractice litigation. She worked on and attended trials, depositions, and strategy meetings. She’s conducted extensive legal research in the field and assisted in forming case theory and strategy. Judy has worked extensively with both the CMV Chicago and CMV Warrenville offices.
Judy’s journey towards her love for the law began with her internship at Senator Tammy Baldwin’s Office. There she worked with a team of attorneys and the Senator’s constituents to effectively assist them in a wide variety of issues. She moved on to work at an intellectual property law firm in Wisconsin and solidified her interest in pursuing the law.
