Anne has handled matters in state and federal courts for more than 30 years and is well-versed in the representation of healthcare companies, hospitals, and medical device manufacturers in litigation matters.  Anne has developed a specialty in EMR issues, and she is often retained to handle the discovery and document production associated with EMR requests and oversees EMR inspections requested and ordered by the court.

Anne has significant trial experience in both criminal and civil court systems.  Her time in the courtroom provides her clients with the additional benefit of interpreting both civil and criminal statutes.  She is often called upon by her institutional clients to act as a liaison between the client and police departments, prosecuting attorneys, investigative entities, and the criminal court system.

In her medical malpractice experience, Anne has successfully defended both hospital and physician clients in multiple jury trials in medical malpractice cases.  She has extensive experience representing clients in birth trauma defense, surgical errors, emergency medicine, radiology, infectious disease and psychiatric cases.  Anne has represented physicians and nurses in a wide variety of medical malpractice cases before the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Anne also has experience in areas of product liability, torts, personal injury and premises liability litigation.  While at the Corporation Counsel’s Office for the City of Chicago’s Law Department in the Torts Division, Anne was supervisor of the Municipal Division and managed and litigated a caseload involving personal injury and toxic torts, including hazmat spills, wrongful death, and related medical malpractice cases.  Anne tried twelve cases to verdict, ten of which resulted in positive verdicts for the defense, as well as obtaining summary judgment in a design defect matter.  Anne represented the City of Chicago in a variety of complex product liability matters that involved allegations of design defect, manufacturing defect and unusual harm.

Anne’s litigation practice includes general civil and municipal defense litigation including Section 1981 and 1983 claims.  As an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Anne argued multiple cases in front of the First District Appellate Court and prosecuted in excess of 35 felony jury trials, 20 misdemeanor jury trials and hundreds of bench trials ranging from financial crimes, domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault and murder cases with an emphasis on gang murders.  Anne also successfully defended a Cook County hospital against allegations of employment discrimination in a federal jury trial.

Anne has prepared witnesses for hearings, investigative interviews and trials.  In addition, when a client or one of their facilities has been the unfortunate victim of a criminal act, Anne guides them through the prosecutorial process and the complexities of filing criminal charges.  Anne has conducted training sessions for multiple clients regarding the necessary steps to be taken to ensure compliance with various statutes and regulations.

Anne is a member of the Trial Bar of the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, the Society of Trial Lawyers, the American Board of Trial Advocacy, the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, and the National Association of Professional Women.
