Peter J. Strauss' practice concentrates on civil litigation with an emphasis on defending healthcare providers and institutions. With over 20 years of practice in this area, Mr. Strauss has defended individual doctors, nursing homes, hospitals, and multi-specialty medical groups in medical negligence cases, premises cases, and Section 1983 civil rights cases.?He has been involved in all aspects of the defense and resolution of medical malpractice claims, from discovery through trial and appeal.
Mr. Strauss has significant jury trial experience defending clients in complex medical issues related to family medicine, orthopedic surgery, vascular surgery, anesthesiology, gastroenterology, radiology, emergency medicine, and infectious diseases. This experience provides a unique knowledge base to help guide clients through the rigors of discovery and trial, but also to know when early resolution or alternative dispute resolution should be employed.
Mr. Strauss earned a Bachelor of Science in finance/economics from the University of Dayton in 1993, and his Juris Doctorate from DePaul University in 1997. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois and the U.S. District Court, Northern and Central Districts of Illinois. Mr. Strauss has made presentations to various medical groups and hospitals related to relevant medical legal issues.
Mr. Strauss is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association. He was formerly a Law Bulletin “40 under 40” attorney in 2000, and a Super Lawyer Illinois Rising Star in 2010-2011. He is currently a Leading Lawyer in Medical Malpractice Defense Law (2022 to present).
