Scott A. Herbert is an equity partner at Cunningham Meyer & Vedrine. He focuses his practice on civil litigation, with an emphasis on professional negligence defense.
Over the course of his career, Scott has successfully defended physicians, nurses and hospitals in malpractice suits involving a wide range of injuries and specialties, including primary care, urgent and emergency care, general and orthopedic surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, infectious disease and radiology.
He has developed a special focus on dental negligence involving catastrophic injury, as well as representing clients before the IDFPR.
A skilled trial attorney, he has successfully argued nearly a dozen cases before the Illinois Appellate Court and secured defense victories for his clients.
Scott is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation-only group that works to foster improvement in the ethical and technical standards of practice in the field of advocacy. He often speaks to hospitals regarding best practices on avoiding and minimizing medical malpractice.
Earlier in his legal career, Scott was a prosecutor in both Cook and Kane County, where he helped start the Kane County Internet Task Force and acquired extensive trial experience on felony cases, including a capital murder trial.
