Dan Mills and Tom Lang secured a defense verdict on behalf of an orthopedic surgeon and his practice group, following a 2-week trial in Cook County, in September 2023. Plaintiff alleged a failure to properly treat a periprosthetic joint infection following knee replacement surgery, which led to 8 additional surgeries and amputation in the future. During closing arguments, plaintiff's attorney asked the jury to award between $12 million and $17 million. The jury deliberated for less than an hour, returning a verdict in favor of the defendant surgeon and his group.
